About tiger Fuel

Tiger Fuel Company is a local, family operated fuel supplier headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia. Founded in 1982, Tiger Fuel distributes petroleum products to both commercial and residential customers throughout Central Virginia. With over 300 employees, Tiger Fuel also operates nine gourmet-to-go convenience stores known as The Markets, eight state-of-the art car washes known as TigerWash, and most recently, Tiger Solar, a local, in-house solar company that specializes in designing, installing, and servicing solar arrays for residential and commercial customers.

As the energy landscape continues to change, Tiger Fuel found a unique opportunity to diversify and expand its product portfolio. In 2018, Tiger Fuel went solar on two of its convenience stores, adding solar panels to the pump canopy and roof. Tiger Fuel acquired a local solar company in May 2021 and officially re-launched it as Tiger Solar in early 2022. Most recently, Tiger has installed solar on two of its TigerWash locations, while looking to add solar to all future Market, TigerWash, and office locations in the coming years.

It is a privilege for Tiger to collaborate with so many like-minded local companies that make a profoundly positive impact on the Charlottesville community and beyond. Tiger is looking forward to identifying some of the biggest opportunities to reduce its carbon footprint and create best practices for sustainability. The Green Business Alliance provides a great platform to share a lot of the great things that Tiger does to support both the local community and the environment.

What We’re Hoping to Accomplish

Tiger Fuel plans to implement several energy-saving efforts at its new Market, TigerWash, and office locations like installing LED lighting, solar panels and adding EV charging stations. In a broader sense, Tiger hopes to inspire other businesses to become thought leaders in sustainability. The convenience, fuel and transportation industries all have an opportunity to take big steps forward. We’re excited to take the leap!
