The City of Charlottesville was the first in the state to set Carbon Neutrality by 2050, and Albemarle County quickly followed suit. Every day, C3 works hard to ensure that our community achieves its emissions reduction goals while driving climate solutions that lead us to a cleaner and more equitable future.
In 2022 alone, we:
Launched five new campaigns designed to serve Charlottesville and Albemarle’s most climate-impacted communities and target the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions
Garnered signatures from over 700 community members and 50 businesses and nonprofits in support of our transit equity and climate equity petitions to Charlottesville City Council
Delivered an additional 1,200 Climate Action Kits (2,400+ in the last two years) to Albemarle County and Charlottesville City elementary schools
Put our community on track to reduce more than 18,000 Metric Tons of CO2 emissions per year by 2025! That’s equivalent to the carbon sequestered by 22,053 acres of forest each year.
Our community is making strides for climate, but there is still more work to be done. With you by our side, we can defend the progress that we made in 2022 and accomplish even more in 2023!
