At Martin Horn, we're not just builders. We also care about the environment and our community. That's why we're joining the Green Building Alliance. It's a group of people who care about making the world a better place for the future. We want to learn from others, share our ideas, and work together to make a big difference for the environment. — Ted Horn, Chief Executive Officer
About Martin Horn
"We build stuff." Martin Horn has had the privilege of building structures all over Charlottesville and Central Virginia for over 43 years. It all began with two partners and a small crew in 1979, and since then, it has become a distinguished commercial construction firm known for its landmark projects and commitment to the surrounding community. Recognizable projects include the Jefferson Theater, the Ting Pavilion, the UVA Baseball Stadium, and the Quirk Hotel in Charlottesville. Their mission is simple: "provide value and earn trust by doing the right thing."
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Martin Horn is committed to preventing climate change in any way they can. They’ve invested in education, technology, and resources required to be industry leaders in green building, in order to provide their clients with the opportunity to achieve certifications in LEED, EarthCraft, Net Zero, and other green building standards. When it came time for Martin Horn to renovate their own office, they practiced what they preached and became the first construction business in Charlottesville to operate out of a LEED certified building. With solar arrays on their roof and electric cars in their parking lot, Martin Horn continues to find new ways to protect the planet.
Partnering with the Green Business Alliance
Martin Horn is a community-focused organization always looking for ways to create a positive impact. They recognize that partnering with organizations that share their commitment to the community is the best way to continuously improve their operations and building strategies for a more sustainable world. They have partnered with the Green Building Alliance (GBA) to further their sustainability goals and are looking for additional partners who want to work together to make a difference.
Goals to Accomplish
The construction industry has a profound impact on the environment, and Martin Horn is committed to minimizing that impact. They intend to find innovative ways to reduce waste, increase recycling efforts, and encourage their employees to practice more sustainable building techniques. They are committed to finding ways to lower their carbon footprint, reduce their waste stream, and minimize their environmental impact in every way possible.
