Latino Conservation Week: Film Screening of La Carta

We will be screening La Carta (with English subtitles), a film on Pope Francis’ role in environmental conservation. Afterwards, we will have a Q&A panel discussion with local leaders from C3, IMPACT, Latino Conservation Week, Virginia Interfaith, and the Church of Incarnation.

Healthy Streets, Healthy People

Join Move 2 Health Equity and WellAWARE for the Charlottesville community event “Healthy Streets, Healthy People” on Saturday, July 8th to encourage personal wellbeing and safer streets. The event will promote mental health resources, as well as healthier urban living, like bike lane expansion, gardening, and tree coverage. Additionally, it will have free crisis training classes, such as CPR. 

C3 works at the intersection of climate and other issues our community is grappling with, like physical and mental health impacts. We are excited to attend the event at Brooker T. Washington Park on Saturday, July 8th from 10am-2pm. Fun prizes, free activities, and hear from community leaders from 20+ community organizations.

Green Teen Alliance February Meeting

The Community Climate Collaborative’s Green Teen Alliance (GTA) will host a meeting for high-school students on February 26th from 4-6pm at C3’s office (415 8th St NE, Charlottesville, VA 22902). Run by C3’s teen interns, the GTA focuses on the climate education of Charlottesville’s youth and on solutions to climate change. At this meeting, C3’s policy team will explain the format and process of writing letters to local decision-makers. Then members will write their own letters to local officials. The goal is to send these letters to advocate for change in local policy and catalyze improvements in our community. New members are welcome!
