Honoring Creation With Action

Human activities greatly harm our physical environment, and it is in severe crisis. We need to think more seriously about the consequences of our actions and stop damaging our planet earth. Maintaining a healthy connection between humans and Mother Earth is important for our prosperity: it causes good fortune to occur, like perennial trees that unceasingly bear fruit. We should learn from the relationships between bees and flowers. They confer mutual benefits to one another. A bee enjoys nectar on a flower without damaging any part of it while also contributing to the flower’s ongoing reproduction. Similarly, the earth and humanity are deeply interdependent. Why cannot we intelligent humans treat our planet as bees treat flowers?

If we make our planet a very unhappy place, there is not any other planet that we human beings can move to. As His Holiness the Dalai Lama has said, “This beautiful blue planet is our only home.” He is calling for the need for all people to protect our planet as one human family. It is universal responsibility, and there is hope. I highlyadmire Charlottesville’s Community Climate Collaborative (C3), who care about our natural environment. May you all be happy and healthy, and may your wishes come true.
