2021 Was a Year of Progress for C3

In 2021, C3 partnered with businesses and residents throughout the Charlottesville community to enact a variety of climate solutions. We created a mural, upgraded homes to all-electric, distributed climate action kits, increased energy efficiency at local businesses, and more. Starting the Climate Conversation Over Thanksgiving Dinner

Charlottesville’s First Climate Mural

November 12, 2021

In this week’s conversation, Susan discusses the unveiling of Charlottesville’s first-ever Climate Justice Mural which is on display on the side of the American Red Cross Building (1105 Rose Hill Drive). Over the summer C3 teens, students from the Boys and Girls Club, and other community partners worked together to complete the mural. The final product is an artistic demonstration of how climate change will impact our community in the future.

C3’s Last Fall Energy Clinic- Improve Your Home’s Energy Efficiency

New Report Outlines 14 Recommendations to Charlottesville Transit System

This article highlights some of the findings of our Transit Equity and Climate report released September 21, 2021. This report outlines 14 recommendations to improve and expand transit, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and build a more just community. “The largest share of our greenhouse gas emissions are generated by the cars we drive, both here in the greater Charlottesville area and across the Commonwealth,” said Susan Kruse, Executive Director of C3. Caetano de Campos Lopes, C3’s Director of Climate Policy and report author shared that, “We hope this report gives voice to the residents who rely on transit every day to access essential services… We must fix our core systems to move to a cleaner, more just future.” Read more.
