Energy Clinics Continue Virtually and In-Person!
Last fall, supported by the City of Charlottesville’s Climate Protection Program, C3 hosted Energy Clinics at various Charlottesville City parks and locations. Now that the colder months are ahead, we have moved to Virtual Energy Clinics and In-Person Energy Clinic events by request.
Did you know based on income or age, you may be eligible to receive thousands of dollars worth of energy-efficiency products & services with LEAP, Dominion, and the City of Charlottesville? And the income threshold may be higher than you expect. For example, the qualifying income level, assuming a household of 4, is at or below $75, 100; for seniors (or families with at least one member who’s 60 or older) it is $112,680**. Funding also includes veterans and people with disabilities.
We want to help homeowners and renters save money, save energy, and help the planet by accessing public funding set aside for City residents.
Please schedule a time to chat with Latricia. Use calendly (https://calendly.com/lgilesc3/community-1-on-1), OR phone or text call 434-218-0309!

What can I expect?
We want to empower income-qualifying residents to access public funding for FREE, no-strings-attached, home improvements like new lights, heating and cooling equipment, and insulation that could save big on energy bills!
Are you paying too much on heating/cooling?
Is your equipment old and in need of an upgrade?
Are there things you can do right now to save?
Our Residential Climate and Equity Program Manager, Latricia Giles, can explain how saving energy also helps the planet.
Where’s the money coming from for the improvements?
Funding for home energy improvements has been made available from the Commonwealth of Virginia, utility companies, and the City of Charlottesville to help reduce the impacts of climate change on Virginia residents. Energy efficiency in homes is a key piece of meeting local and state climate goals, and the City knows that residents can’t do it alone and wants to connect residents with these funding resources. City residents can increase the energy efficiency of their homes, lower their energy bills, and as a result lower our community’s climate emissions. Everyone wins.
Why is energy efficiency good for the planet?
The energy we use at home has a climate impact. A large percentage of the energy that powers our homes comes from fossil fuels. These fuels emit greenhouse gases, contributing to the climate crisis. So, saving energy saves on harmful emissions.
The City of Charlottesville has an ambitious goal to reduce our community emissions by 45% by 2030. This means every household, every business, every congregation, school, and nonprofit has a role to play so together we can create a cleaner, better community! When you make your home as efficient as possible, you are part of the solution. Your participation in these free programs helps all of us.
Can renters qualify?
Yes! Renters can qualify, but you’ll need to obtain landlord approval for the deeper upgrades. LEAP is happy to work with your landlord on the upgrades. It’s a win-win for you as a bill payer and your landlord as a property owner.
Do I qualify?
Check out this handout we made to show who qualifies, what you may qualify for, and where the funds are coming from.
