C3 Welcomes 7 Summer Interns
Summer is here and so are our new interns! We are elated to welcome seven UVA students to the C3 family as they work closely with our team members through mid-July on various climate-related projects.
Kendall Colenbaugh, Make Your Own Impact Intern
Kendall is a rising third-year at the University of Virginia from Kennesaw, Georgia. She is double majoring in Environmental Science and Environmental Thought and Practice with a minor in Public Policy and Leadership. Kendall is most interested in corporate sustainability and environmental policy, but most of her sustainability efforts revolve around community outreach, energy efficiency, and waste minimization. At UVA, she is involved in the Office for Sustainability, the Greener Housing Coalition, and the Chi Omega sorority. In her free time, Kendall enjoys hiking, running, and exploring Charlottesville.
Corey Comba, Energy Equity Intern
Corey is a rising fourth year majoring in Urban and Environmental Planning in the Architecture School at UVA and minoring in French. She grew up in Virginia Beach and has always loved being outdoors. She is very interested in cultivating equity and sustainability in the built environment and is excited to work towards equitable outcomes and solutions with C3. She believes that cities and its residents are a large part of the climate solution, not the problem. In her spare time, she loves to read, go swimming, or simply hang out with friends.
Angel Fabiano, ACT on Climate! Intern
Angel is a rising fourth-year at the University of Virginia from Columbus, Ohio, and is majoring in Environmental Science. She is interested in exploring the policy side of the climate crisis and is passionate about teaching others about how climate change affects their daily lives. At UVA, Angel is a part of the College Council and She Writes History. She also works at the Memorial Gymnasium as an Operation Supervisor and volunteers with Charlottesville Area Riding Therapy (CART). In her free time, she loves to have calls with her family, watch movies with her friends, and dive deep into a good book.
Yirui Gui, Corporate Sustainability Intern
Yirui is a rising third-year at the University of Virginia from Chongqing, China. She is pursuing a double major in Political & Social Thought and Economics. Yirui is dedicated to sustainability and climate change solutions, an interest that has grown into a passion since she attended the UN Climate Change Conference three years ago. At UVA, she is a student docent at the Fralin Museum of Art, a dancer of Ballroom Dance Club and Salsa Dance Club, a performer at the LingXi Chinese Theater, and a member of both Tri Sigma and the service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. She also enjoys photography and playing the violin in her spare time.
Skye Snider, Youth Leadership Intern
Skye is a third-year student at the University of Virginia from Elk Creek, Virginia. She is double majoring in Youth & Social Innovation and Sociology. She is interested in how the environment contributes to mental health and wellbeing, and how organizations can positively contribute to this. Skye is also active in Period Club at UVA, as well as creating the podcast WNRS@UVA. In her free time you can find her outside hiking, reading, or connecting with friends.
Katie Treene, Development Intern
Katie is a rising fourth-year at the University of Virginia from San Francisco, California, majoring in Economics and Global Commerce in Culture & Society, with a minor in Environments & Sustainability in the Global Studies program. She is interested in issues of environmental justice and renewable resources, and how economics can be used to further climate action. At UVA, Katie is a writer for the Health & Sciences section of the Cavalier Daily, a member of the Environmental Justice team for the club Students for Equity and Reform in Virginia, and a goalie for the Women’s Club Water Polo team. In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors, play water polo, and attend concerts with friends.
Rachel Weghorst, Communications and Marketing Intern
Rachel Weghorst is a rising second-year at the University of Virginia. She is planning to major in Environmental Thought and Practice, and to double minor in Leadership and Public Policy and Environmental Science. Rachel grew up in Sperryville Virginia, in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains, which helped cultivate her love for nature. She has a passion for sustainability, conservation, and environmental justice. Rachel is interested in how sustainability intersects with the different sectors of the world and is excited to work to mitigate the consequences of environmental challenges in pursuit of a greener future!
