Meet Teri Kent, C3's Director of Programs and Communication

This summer we want you to get to know our growing team. Teri has had the unique opportunity of seeing the team grow from one employee (Teri) in 2017 to now seven people! In this 3-minute video she shares what she enjoys most about C3’s work.

Describe your role at C3.

My role at C3 is twofold. I work to guide our programs and I strategize and create all of our communications — website, press releases, pitching stories to the media, curating and creating content for social media — to increase awareness about what we do and inspire action. I also work with Latricia and Claire on our programs for businesses, homes, and schools and with Cae on policy in a communications role. And I love writing and working with people, so it’s great.

What is one thing you've done at C3 that you are proud of?

There have been so many highlights in the past four years I’ve been at C3, but I’ll say I’m proud of the blog because it reflects our mission, has diverse voices from our community, and highlights our collaborative work. It also provides value to readers wanting to embrace change for the good of the climate in their own lives. There are also so many actionable items and ways to get involved in our work, so I really encourage you to check it out. Especially if you’ve read something on the news particularly heartbreaking about the climate crisis, it can be a good antidote to that. It’s up-lifting.

What do you like most about working at C3?

What I like most is getting out into the community and talking to people, lifting them up, listening, finding ways we can work together. In my experience people can be weighed down by what we’re facing with climate and I don’t like to see people discouraged because there is so much we can do when we work together. My joy is sharing solutions, telling those stories to inspire others, and working together as one community.

What is something that people might be surprised to learn about you?

I’m a big extrovert, so people might be surprised to know that I love to go to the ashram at Yogaville in Buckingham County for a whole weekend of silence -- quiet contemplation, meditation, and yoga.
