Once again C3 has compiled a gift guide for all your buying needs this holiday season! Buying local benefits our local economy and the climate; and this year it’s more important than ever to support our local businesses due to the tremendous impact the pandemic has had on local businesses. This year’s guide features 26 of the 75 participants in our Better Business Challenge program, designed to help any type of business incorporate sustainability into their daily operations.

For the foodie in your family.

Tell a friend that lunch is on you this holiday season when you give them a restaurant gift card to one of Charlottesville’s delicious eateries. These seven businesses not only serve up phenomenal eats, they are also committed to climate as Better Business Challenge participants.

Additionally, how about taking one night off to treat yourself and your family by letting the folks at Harvest Moon Catering cook a festive meal this season with their Holidays at Home option. Kick back and relax. You deserve it!

For your favorite style fiend.

Some say if you look good, you feel good. Give the gift of a fresh hair style at one of the three salons in this year’s Challenge: Hair Smith & Co., Loyal Beyond Beauty, and Mixed Beauty. Or, share some pre-loved style with accessories, bags, and more from Twice is Nice. How about adding a special touch and customizing some eco-friendly gifts from Custom Ink?

For travel lover.

Of course traveling hasn’t been much of an option lately, but to satisfy future wanderlust, why not gift something to look forward to with a trip arranged by Global Pathfinder Travel & Events? Let the experts help you plan a get-away and snag some great deals.

A gift certificate to High Tor Gear Exchange can help outfit the travel bug who likes a good adventure. They also carry all sorts of products from local artisans like hand-made soaps, salves, and sprays.

For the socialite in your life.

A membership to the The Center is the perfect gift for the senior in your life that loves to be active, learn, and meet friends. Or perhaps you know someone who would love to become a member at Common House, where they can gather (at a social distance, of course) “for social and business pursuits”.

Give an experience this year with tickets to upcoming shows at Live Arts Theater or a season pass for all performances next year. Also the Charlottesville Sprint Pavilion has posted a couple of shows for the 2021 season when an outdoor experience will be possible again. Purchasing tickets ahead of time will definitely give the socialite in your life an event to look forward to.

For those who love to give back.

‘Tis the season of giving and giving on behalf of someone you love is a great way to spread the holiday cheer. No matter to whom you choose to give, organizations of all sorts (including our own) are able to make a difference because of your support. If you’re wondering where to give, consider these organizations within our network as well as the team at Community Climate Collaborative. We are giving all recurring donors their choice of a C3 hat or t-shirt and recurring donors at the $50 level who live within the Black Bear Composting service area will receive a complimentary annual subscription to their food-waste-to-compost pick up service!
