Beginning September 3rd, Claire Habel will transition from C3’s Residential Program Manager to our new Commercial Program Manager. Her primary responsibility will be to engage the business community in taking action to reduce their climate impacts.

As the commercial sector accounts for nearly one-third of greenhouse gas emissions in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, the Business Program Manager works to understand obstacles to action within this sector; provides technical support for businesses and nonprofits that want to take action both in the day-to-day operations of their space and as leaders in the community; cultivates advocates for pro-business policies that stimulate emissions reductions.

Claire graduated cum laude from DePaul University and earned her Master’s Degree in Environmental Communications and Advocacy from James Madison University. She brings with her experience working with variety of industries, new ideas for cultivating an organizational culture of sustainability, and creative approaches for identifying sustainable solutions.

Claire says, “There are many different ways to foster a sustainable future in the business community. I’m thrilled to be at the forefront of strengthening how Charlottesville leads on climate with unique approaches to moving businesses forward and working together to advocate for solutions that work for everyone!”
