Our Commitment to Sustainability
Beyond our mission to accelerate the shift to clean energy, it is critical for us to act and lead on sustainability. We seek solutions that transcend our business model to lower our individual and collective environmental footprint. Apex has established numerous incentives designed to motivate and reward employees for making sustainable choices. Through our Drive Electric program, Parking Cash Out program, Solar Power Incentive, Home Energy Efficiency Incentive, and Electrify Everything program, Apex employees can contribute to the company’s mission and core value of sustainability even when away from the office. These benefits include supporting decisions to purchase electric vehicles; bike, walk, or carpool to work; purchase solar energy for their rooftop or an affiliated nonprofit’s; and maximize opportunities for clean and efficient energy use in their homes. In addition, Apex has recently transitioned company vehicles to a fleet that features a plug-in hybrid system for our teams at operating facilities across the nation.

Apex Plaza, our headquarters in the heart of the city’s strategic investment area, is on the cutting edge of sustainable design and mirrors Apex’s work at the forefront of the renewable energy revolution. The mass timber structure, which features green building materials, clean power generation, and state-of-the-art efficiency initiatives, is a physical manifestation of the company’s mission and acts as a blueprint for sustainable construction in Charlottesville and beyond.
Future Plans
We believe sustainability is a journey of continual improvement, and there will always be opportunities to do better. In 2026, we are honing our approach to circularity, meaning finding ways to minimize waste and optimize resource use across our operations, from improving composting food waste in our offices through to recycling solar panels and wind turbine blades at our projects to the maximum extent possible.
